Ducks, Jakob Silfverberg Agree To Five-Year Extension

One potential trade chip appears to be off the market heading into Monday's deadline, with multiple reports saying forward Jakob Silfverberg and the Anaheim Ducks have reached agreement on a five-year extension.

The 28-year-old's new deal carries an annual average value of over $5 million, according to reports.

Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews has signed one of the most lucrative second contracts in the salary cap era, agreeing to a five-year, $58.17 million extension with the Leafs through the 2023-24 season. Matthews, 21, would have been a restricted free agent this summer.

The average annual value of the contract is $11.634 million.
